Crochet Cuddly Ice Cream Cone

The bigger one on the right is made with 9mm hook. The smaller one is made with 8mm hook.

Have you ever thought about eating an ice cream cone in your bed and slowly falling asleep with it? Now you can make one of this cuddly No-Melt ice cream cone and go to sleep with it! ^v^

My kids love to eat ice cream cone so much and wish they could eat as much as they wanted even in their dream! Now their dream comes true! They can sleep with this cuddly ice cream cone and have a SWEET dream!

I love to make kids' toys with Bernat Blanket Yarn. It works up fast, soft and comfy, that makes great cuddly toys. I created this pattern a year ago but didn't finish writing it because I have so many things I want to make! So I put it on my to-do-list. Now the weather is getting warmer. Everyday my kids asked to have ice cream cone and that reminded me about my cuddly ice cream cone. I think it's time to finish this pattern and share it with people who also love ice cream cone and want to sleep with it!

Here's the pattern!

Skill level: Easy

Material:

- Bernat blanket yarn in four colours (I use lemon lime, light pink, sand, and bright pink for the cherry)

- 8mm hook

- Tapestry needle

- Polyester fiber

- 1 or 2 15mm safety eyes

- a strand of black yarn for the eye and mouth

Abbreviations:

sc - single crochet

sl st - slip stitch

dc - double crochet

inc - increase

dec - decrease

Note:

-- This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the last stitch of each row; move it up as you go along.

-- The ice cream cone is worked from the top to the bottom. The edge of scoop is the last part to work on with shell stitch. Please remember do not cut the yarn after you finish the ice cream scoop because you need it to crochet the edge.

Finished size:

41cm (16”) tall x 17cm (7”) wide

Edge of ice cream scoop:

Hold the ice cream cone upside down. (Video tutorial of shell stitch is available below.)

Continue working with the ice cream color A.

Work on the front loops of round 12.

Insert hook into the first stitch of round 12, yarn over and pull through (As shown in pictures below).

(Skip a stitch, 4 dc in next stitch, skip a stitch, sl st in next) repeat ( ) around to the end. You will have 12 shell stitches around. Leave a long tail (35”/90cm), cut it and sew the shells onto the scoop. (As shown in picture below)

Now work on the edge of bottom scoop.

Insert hook into the first stitch of round 19, yarn over and pull through.

(Skip a stitch, 4 dc in next stitch, skip a stitch, sl st in next) repeat ( ) around to the end. You will have 10 shell stitches around. Leave a long tail (35”/90cm) to sew the shells on the scoop.

Cherry pattern

With cherry color yarn, work in continuous round.

Round 1: Make 6 sc in magic ring [6]

Round 2: sc inc in each stitch around [12]

Round 3: sc around [12]

Round 4: sc dec, repeat around [6]

Leave a long tail and cut it. Fasten off. Close the gap. Sew it on the top of the ice cream scoop.

The yarn has shaped the cherry so I did not stuff it.

The bigger one is made with 9mm hook. You can change the size of the hook to make it bigger or smaller. Hope you enjoy making it!

Happy crocheting!
